Alternative Dispute Resolution
Jim Lloyd has served as a mediator and an arbitrator since the 1990’s. He began his litigation practice in 1977 in a small general practice where he represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in matters ranging from civil, criminal and domestic litigation to probate, estate and small business litigation. In 1984, Jim’s practice shifted to insurance defense litigation, including property and casualty matters, professional liability, products liability, employment cases and worker’s compensation matters. This exposure gives Jim an appreciation for both the Plaintiff’s and Defendant’s perspectives and a grasp of the legal issues in a wide range of matters.
Jim believes that there are no “routine” mediations. Each case presents its own unique set of facts and issues. The Parties have their own personalities, passions, and plans for the successful resolution of the case. Jim works closely with the lawyers and their clients and representatives to formulate a reasonable resolution. Jim has successfully mediated matters in the fields of personal injury litigation, wrongful death, construction, real estate, products liability and professional liability at the pre-litigation, litigation and appellate levels.
Jim is a member of the Alabama State Court Mediator Roster and the Alabama Arbitrator Roster and also serves as an Appellate Mediator in the Alabama Appellate Mediation Program. Jim also receives appointments for mediation from State and Federal Courts.
